We are delighted to
report that this appeal
has now closed, having
raised more than its
original target. Thanks
to a most generous
donation of £1,000 given
by Thelma Neale, the
fund has been able to
cover the cost of
resurfacing the down
platform south of the
station buildings. This
work was completed
during the latter part
of 2010 and the result
is a walkway that is
both safer to walk on
and more visually
attractive. The
surplus funds will be
put towards other
restoration work,
probably to re-establish
the station’s
greenhouse, for so long
the source of the floral
decoration that was a
feature of Shillingstone
station.
